Bill Harding- “A lake cannot serve just one interest group. A healthy, functional semi-natural ecosystem comes first and then the various user-groups must adapt to what this offers them. Swimming, sailing, canoeing and etc are entirely possible in a system like Zandvlei – which is pondweed dominated – because the pondweed is ‘mowed’ to maintain lanes and areas for these uses. The same could happen at Zeekoevlei – but it would be a first world scenario that would cost everyone a bit more”
